A MARKED shift in weather conditions has been observed across
Chhattisgarh, including Raipur
district, following the influence
of Cyclone Ditwah, which has
now weakened into a depression. The system’s impact has
resulted in persistent cloud cover and a noticeable dip in temperatures across State.
Dense fog enveloped region
early Tuesday morning, significantly reducing visibility, especially in the outer areas including Kharora.
The thick fog, which
persisted until around 8 am,
forced vehicles to move at
reduced speeds to avoid mishaps.
Morning walkers, meanwhile,
were seen enjoying the mistladen surroundings and the
pleasant ambience created by
the heavy fog. Speaking to ‘The
Hitavada’ over phone, Scientist
and In-Charge, State Weather
Forecasting Services, IMD
Raipur, Dr Gayatri Vani confirmed that Cyclone Ditwah has
weakened and no longer retains
cyclone status. “The system has
transformed into a depression,”
she said.
According to Dr Vani,
remnant of Cyclone Ditwah currently lies weakened as a depression off the coast of North Tamil
Nadu, Puducherry and south
coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The system was expected to
weaken into a well-marked lowpressure area over same region
within the next 12 hours. The
IMD has advised citizens to exercise caution during early morning travel due to reduced visibility
and to stay updated on weather
developments as the system continues to weaken.
