AN INTER-STATE public cultural congregation, Kartik Jatra 2025, is being organised around 40 km from Jashpur in neighbouring Jharkhand, bringing together the President of India and sitting Chief Ministers of three States on a single platform. The event is being held at Pankhraj Saheb Kartik Uraon Chowk, Manjhatoli, under Raidih block of Gumla district, close to the Chhattisgarh border.

The two-day cultural programme began on December 29 and will culminate on Tuesday, December 30, with President Droupadi Murmu attending the main ceremony as Chief guest. As per the official schedule, the President will arrive by helicopter at the Agadih airstrip in Jashpur district before proceeding to the venue. The gathering assumes special significance as Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi are slated to share the stage during the event.

Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka and Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will also be present, adding to the constitutional and political prominence of the occasion. In view of the President’s visit, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place by the district and police administration. Security personnel have been deployed from the Agadih airstrip to the programme venue, with additional forces positioned along key routes.

Traffic arrangements have been partially modified, and certain roads diverted to ensure smooth and secure movement. The administration has appealed to the public to cooperate and follow the issued advisories. The Kartik Jatra 2025 is being organised by the Pankhraj Saheb Kartik Uraon Tribal Shakti Autonomous University Construction Committee, a joint body representing Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Organisers said the event aims to celebrate shared tribal heritage, promote cultural exchange and strengthen social unity across State boundaries. Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram and Faggan Singh Kulaste, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes, are among other dignitaries expected to attend the programme. Organisers and local representatives said the inter-State cultural congregation is envisioned as a strong symbol of tribal identity, social cohesion and collective cultural consciousness, reflecting the shared traditions of the region’s tribal communities.
