THE Special Investigation
Team (SIT) has taken major
action in the poisonous
cough syrup case in Parasia,
Chhindwara. The team
arrested Anil Rasela, the
owner of Rasela Medical
Store, and presented him
before the court, from where
he was sent to judicial custody. A three-and-a-halfyear-old child died after consuming cough syrup purchased from Rasela Medical
Store.
Police have been making continuous arrests since
the case was registered on
October 4. The investigation
revealed that the kidneys of
three-and-a-half-year-old
Mayank Suryavanshi, a resident of Umreth Mordongri,
failed after he consumed
'Coldrif' cough syrup purchased from Rasela Medical
Store. The child died on
October 8 during treatment.
DSP, Jitendra Jat said that the
child was treated by Dr.
Aman Thakur on September
22. Based on the investigation into the sale of the
cough syrup and related
facts, Anil Rasela, the owner
of Rasela Medical Store, was
named as an accused. He has
been arrested and sent to jail.
According to the police,
another medical shop and
two doctors are still under
investigation in this case. In
another case registered at
Kundipura police station, the
police have already arrested
and jailed two accused. The
SIT is investigating every
aspect of the case, and further action is expected in the
coming days.
