As per the final figures released by the District Administration on Wednesday, Nagpur district registered 61.25% polling in the Municipal Council (MC) and Nagar Panchayat (NP) elections.
On Tuesday voting took place in all 15 Municipal Councils and 12 Nagar Panchayats in the district. Of 7,29,822 voters in the district, 4,47,011 voters exercised their franchise. Among the total voters, 2,28,186 were male, 2,18,823 were female and 2 come under other category.
In Nagpur district, Parseoni Nagar Panchayat witnessed the highest 79.49 per cent voting turnout followed by Mowad Municipal Council (77.05%), Mouda Nagar Panchayat (75.83%), Kondhali Nagar Panchayat (75.17%), and Mohpa Municipal Council (75.05%). Newly-formed Besa Pipla Nagar Panchayat reported the lowest voting turnout with just 51.33 per cent voting. Butibori Municipal Council also reported the second lowest voting turnout with 53.19 per cent followed by Wadi (53.33%), and Digdoh Municipal Council (53.88%).
There are total 10,198 voters in Parseoni Nagar Panchayat in which 8,106 voters cast votes. The Kamptee Municipal Council has the highest 88,636 voters in which 52,329 voters exercised their franchise which is 59.04 per cent turnout.
The counting of votes for elections to the 264 municipal councils and nagar panchayats that went to the polls on Tuesday will be held on December 21, instead of December 3, following a directive from the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court.
