CHHATTISGARH Cabinet has
decided to give benefit of 50 per
cent discount on electricity bills
up to 200 units per month to
domestic consumers under
Mukhyamantri Urja Rahat Jan
Abhiyan (M-URJA).
Talking to media persons at
Mantralaya, Nava Raipur Atal
Nagar after the cabinet meeting,
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao
said that the cabinet meeting
was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vishnu
Deo Sai at Mantralaya, Nava
Raipur Atal Nagar on Wednesday,
in which several important decisions were taken.
The M-URJA
has been effective in State from
December 1, 2025 to provide
relief in electricity bills to the
domestic electricity consumers
of State.
Under this scheme, domestic
electricity consumers will receive
a 50 per cent discount on their
electricity bills, up to 200 units
per month from 100 units.
Consumers consuming up to 400 units will also receive this
benefit, he added.
Consumers consuming 200 to 400 units
of electricity in the state will get the benefit of 50 percent
discount on electricity bills up to 200 units for the next one
year. Six lakh consumers of the state will get benefit of the
scheme. During this period, the consumers can install solar
plants in their homes under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijali
Yojana. In this way, 42 lakh consumers of the state will be
benefited from the M-URJA, while all the consumers of the
state will get the benefit of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar
Mukt Bijli Yojana.
It is noteworthy that under the Pradhan
Mantri Surya Ghar Mukt Bijli Yojana, subsidy is being given by the state government, under which an additional
subsidy of Rs 15,000 is being given on a solar plant of 1 kilowatt capacity and Rs 30,000 on a plant of 2 kilowatt or more
capacity. This facility will encourage the adoption of solar
energy in the state and in the future, it will take consumers
from half electricity to free electricity, said the Deputy Chief
Minister.
The Cabinet has also decided to amend the
Chhattisgarh Store Purchase Rules-2002 to encourage purchase from local small and micro industries and to ensure
clarity in purchase on the GeM portal.
These amendments will simplify the procurement process,
increase transparency, promote competition and save time
and resources, said Arun Sao. The Cabinet has also approved
the draft of Chhattisgarh Private University (Establishment
and Operation) (Amendment) Bill-2025.
The draft of
Chhattisgarh Shops and Establishments Amendment Bill,
2025 was approved to amend the Chhattisgarh Shops and
Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions
of Service) Act-2017. ‘ This amendment will promote reforms
of ease of doing business and employment, he added.
