SECOND seed Vishwak Reddy and ninth seed Zyaan Mohammed recorded hard-fought three-set wins on third day of the MSLTA-NDHTA All India Ranking National Series for Boys and Girls Under-14, on Wednesday.
In the boys singles, Akhilesh Chavan, seeded 13, stretched Vishwak into three full sets before losing 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
Both boys put their heart and soul into the game and fought for every single point, taking the match duration to more than three hours.
In another intense match, Tejasav Meel (seed 10) faced Zyaan in a thrilling three set match 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-1 where Zyaan came back after being one set down and took the match in another three-hour duel. Continuing with his top form, he faced Archan Pathak (seed 7) and again came back after being one set down to take the match 2-6, 7-6(6), 7-5. In other matches, Vir Chattur (seed 4) beat Harsh Nagwani (seed 16) 6-3, 6-4; Sparsh Patil (seed 5) beat Aditya Kamat (seed 11) 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In the girls singles, top seed Parinitha V beat Tiaana Thakkar (seed 16) 6-0, 6-2 while Aditri Singh (seed 6) beat Ritika Deshpande in a intense match 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Both boys and girls singles quarter-finals along with doubles will be played on Thursday.
