Dr Manali Kshirsagar takes charge from Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware

“Any education institute is created for students, so it should be student-centric. In my tenure, I will give full priority to the issues related to students. I will not tolerate students in distress. Justice will be delivered to them immediately,” vowed new Vice Chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) Dr Manali Kshirsagar. She was interacting with mediapersons on Tuesday after taking charge. Dr Kshirsagar created history as she became the first woman Vice Chancellor of this 100-year-old university. One more coincidence witnessed on Tuesday is--Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware who handed over charge to Dr Manali Kshirsagar, also had become the first woman Acting Vice Chancellor.

“The institution must have transparency. Students always want information on time, which they don’t get. It doesn’t happen because the system has several gaps. I will try to remove those gaps. Since I did my education in computer technology, I will exploit that knowledge for the well-being of the university thus enhancing quality. Now new agency has taken over to handle examination and result processing. I need to understand its problems and sort out those,” pointed out Dr Kshirsagar. To bring 3-shift exam format “We are planning to introduce 3-shift examination format. This will save time of students as well as of university.

The examinations will be conducted early and results too will be declared faster. We are contemplating to conduct examinations between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm. It will be easy if the examinations are of two hours duration so we will plan it accordingly,” revealed Dr Kshirsagar. At present, the semesters 1, 3, 5, 7 are conducted by colleges and remaining by university. Usually, the number of marks secured by students in the examinations conducted by colleges is more than the marks earned by them in university-conducted examinations. While replying to this query, Dr Kshirsagar said, “It doesn’t happen, but if at all it happens, then the academic auditing can be done effectively, because anything implemented should not damage the academic quality.”

Area-specific courses can attract foreign students For the last several years, no student from abroad is taking admission to the RTMNU. When it was brought to the notice of Dr Kshirsagar, she said, “We have to introduce the courses, which can attract students from other countries. If the courses are related to the specialties of particular countries, then the students from those places are expected to approach RTMNU. This is just a primary thought. We have to work on it.” No gender-bias When asked how has she taken her appointment as being the first woman Vice Chancellor. Will she work towards greater empowerment of women, Dr Kshirsagar replied, “It is a good thing that I became the first woman Vice Chancellor of this 100-year-old university. But I will not do my duty with gender-bias. The empowerment of women is taking place everywhere. I want to take the university right up there.” Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase, Director of Knowledge Resource Centre Dr Vijay Khandal, Management Council members Dr Samay Bansod, Ajay Agrawal, deans, Senate members and others greeted Dr Kshirsagar. Dr Manali Kshirsagar, along with the university officers, left for Mozari, the workplace of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj. Dr Khode-Chaware completed 22 tasks in 8 months Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware, Additional Divisional Commissioner, who had taken charge of Vice Chancellor from Dr Prashant Bokare on March 13, 2025 completed 22 tasks, including the long-pending inauguration of Samvidhan Park at the premises of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law.
