FOLLOWING the campaign initiated to crackdown ongoing
fraud in paddy procurement, 384
sacks of illegally stored paddy
have been seized in Shahpura on
Thursday. The 384 sacks of illegally stored paddy were seized
from the shops of Sachin Jain
and Jani Gumasta, located
behind the Shahpura Mandi
premises. The seized paddy was
later transported to the procurement centre.
The illegal storage of paddy was detected by a
team from the Agriculture
Department, which immediately updated SDM Shahpura,
Madan Singh Raghuvanshi.
The SDM with the Agriculture
Produce Market Secretary,
reached the spot and initiated the
action to seize the paddy.
The SDM Shahpura stated that
both traders involved in the illegal storage of paddy were also
found to be purchasing and selling grain without a license.
He informed that as per the
instructions of Collector
Raghavendra Singh, traders or
middlemen trying to take
undue advantage of the
paddy procurement system at
the support price in the name
of farmers in Shahpura tehsil
are being closely monitored
and separate teams have been
formed for taking action.
He
said that action is being taken against traders and middlemen who collect paddy illegally to take undue advantage
of the procurement system and
criminal cases will also be registered for selling the produce
in wrong names at procurement centres.
