STATE Public Works Department
Minister Rakesh Singh on
Tuesday inspected condition of
all important squares of the city.
Speaking on the occasion, he
said Jabalpur has entered a new
phase of steady development
under the leadership of Chief
Minister Mohan Yadav. The city
once known for complaints of
neglect is now experiencing continuous progress.
Singh inspected Andhamukh
Bypass Chowk, Adi
Shankaracharya Chowk, Rani
Avanti Bai Chowk (Dhanvantari
Nagar), Medical Chowk (Netaji
Subhash Chandra Bose), Tripuri
Chowk and Rampur Chowk. He
examined traffic flow, present
safety conditions and local
requirements. Officials from the
PWD and Jabalpur Municipal
Corporation were also present on
the occasion.
Singh said the city’s main entry
points and major squares will be
redesigned to reflect the identity and heritage of Sanskardhani.
Andhamukh Bypass Chowk will
be developed as an attractive
landmark with a replica of
Bhedaghat, flowing water features, greenery and improved
lighting. The State Minister said
the aim is to create a welcoming
view for anyone entering
Jabalpur.
Singh added that Rani Avanti
Bai Chowk, Medical Chowk,
Rampur Chowk and Tripuri
Chowk will be upgraded with
similar planning. Adi
Shankaracharya Chowk will be
redesigned with well planned
landscaping, fountains and lighting.
While the installation of a
statue is not possible due to
regulatory limitations, symbolic elements representing
Adi Shankaracharya will be
incorporated. He also said that
the development of other main
routes, including Shastri
Bridge Chowk and Kachhpura
Bridge will be carried out to
ensure a pleasant experience
for commuters from the
moment they enter the city. He
said the main objective behind
such exercise is to create roadways and junctions that are
not only functional but visually associated with the city’s
cultural character. Municipal
Commissioner Ramprakash
Ahirwar and other officials
were present during the
inspection.
