Staff Reporter :
A MAJOR incident challenging
the security arrangements of the
Madhya Pradesh Legislative
Assembly complex emerged on
Thursday morning, right as the
Winter Session was underway.
Unidentified miscreants not only
gained entry into the Vidhan
Sabha premises but also cut
down a sandalwood tree from
the parking area and attempted
to damage two others. This
attempt to saw and steal sandalwood inside the Assembly
complex, which has a heavy security deployment, raises serious
questions about the security of
the premises.
According to reports, when the
Vidhan Sabha staff and officials
arrived at the complex on
Thursday morning, they were
shocked to find a fully sawn sandalwood tree in the parking area.
Furthermore, staff discovered
saw marks on two other sandalwood trees planted inside the
complex, indicating that the miscreants had attempted to cut
those down as well.
Police officials stated that the
CCTV footage of the Vidhan
Sabha complex is being thoroughly examined to identify the
suspects.
As part of the investigation, the security personnel
deployed in the area are also
being questioned. ACP Manish
Bhardwaj confirmed that the
police received information
about a sandalwood tree being
cut down inside the Vidhan
Sabha complex. A detailed investigation is underway, and a special team has been formed to
trace the accused.
He stated that the CCTV
footage is being intensively
checked, and people present
inside the premises will also be
questioned.
This is not the first case of sandalwood theft in the city.
The continuous incidents
point towards the presence of
an active sandalwood Mafia
operating in Bhopal:November
17th Theft: Previously, on
November 17th, a sandalwood
tree was stolen from outside the
DFO office in the VVIP area of 74
Bungalows.
Approximately five days ago,
three sandalwood trees were also
felled inside the Gufa Mandir
complex in the Koh-e-Fiza area.
