NAGPUR’S Shruti Joshi made the city proud by winning a bronze medal for Maharashtra in the National Games underway at Uttarakhand.
Participating in the individual sabre event, Shruti, daughter of Dharmendra, who is a driver in a private company, won the bronze to make the State and her family proud. This is Shruti’s first medal at national level competitions. Her medal is the first for Maharashtra in this National Games
She has won many medals at State and National levels and also at Khelo India University Games.
She also participated in the Cadet Fencing Asian Championship held at Amman in Jordan, in 2019 and Fencing Asian Championship organised at Tashkent in Uzbekistan.
Shruti started training in fencing at eleven under the watchful eyes of coach Ankeet Gajbhiye and under the guidance of Nagpur District Fencing Association President Ajay Sontakke and Secretary Mohd Shoeb.
Presently, she is being trained by Sagar Lagu, head coach of fencing at Sports Authority of India, Thalassery, Kerala.
