The city’s first Automatic Testing Station (ATS) for commercial vehicle fitness assessment was inaugurated at Katangi Bypass, on Monday. The facility was inaugurated by Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav and Regional Transport Officer Jitendra Singh Raghuvanshi. The new system aims to bring greater transparency in vehicle fitness testing. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, Municipal Commissioner Yadav said the Ministry of Transport mandates that commercial vehicles undergo fitness evaluations through the automated system, where vehicles must pass 35 different tests.

She said this automated fitness centre would not only ensure better assessment of vehicle capacity and quality but also contribute to improving air quality and reducing pollution levels. She further stated that mechanically sound vehicles significantly reduce the risk of road accidents. Previously, vehicle fitness certification was conducted manually at the Transport Office, but now, with the ATS the entire process will be carried out through automated testing. A large number of officials and citizens were present at the inauguration ceremony.
