RAIPUR: After the deposit of polling material in the strongroom at GEC Sejbahar, Raipur, the sealing process was carried out in the presence of the Collector and District Election Officer Dr Gaurav Singh, SSP Dr Lal Umed Singh, Raipur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhinash Mishra, District Panchayat CEO Vishvadeep, Returning Officer Kirtiman Singh Rathore, ADM Devendra Patel, Deputy District Election Officer Umashakar Bande, and representatives of political parties.

Average 72.48 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the civic bodies elections, which were held in 173 civic bodies of the state on Tuesday. All the polled Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were stored in the strong rooms of State. Counting will take place on February 15. The civic bodies elections were held through the EVMs. Officials of the State Election Commission informed that 12,500 control units and 22,650 ballot units were used during the voting. The polling was held in 10 Municipal Corporations, 49 Municipal Councils and 114 Nagar Panchayats.
 
According to the information received from the State Election Commission, the candidates for the post of President in Nagar Panchayat Basna of Mahasamund district was elected unopposed. A total of 31 candidates for the post of corporators were elected unopposed in the general election and 2 in the by-election. One EVM was replaced in Khairagarh- Chhuikhadan-Gandai, 1 in Gariaband district, 3 Janjgir-Champa district, 5 in Dantewada district, 3 in Mahasamund district, 3 in Balrampur-Ramanujganj, 5 in Surajpur district and 2 in Mungeli district due to malfunction. The Commission took action on 160 different complaints on model code of conduct violations. The voting percentage was 72.48 and there was no untoward incident during voting in all the areas. No information was received regarding the incident. A total of 7 thousand 879 Election Duty Ballots (EDB) were received from men and women. Voting was conducted peacefully and in a cordial atmosphere. State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh expressed his gratitude towards all the officers, employees, police, political parties, candidates and voters.
