Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL) has set a new milestone in coal unloading at Shri Singaji Thermal Power Plant, Dongaliya (Khandwa). The timely clearance of coal rakes plays a crucial role in ensuring a continuous supply of coal. From December 9, 2024, to February 11, 2025, the Coal Handling Plant (CHP)-1 and CHP-2 successfully unloaded a total of 531 coal rakes within the stipulated timeframe set by the Railways. This achievement marks the highest number of coal rakes unloaded within three months without incurring any demurrage charges. Earlier, between January 22, 2023, and April 4, 2023, the plant had unloaded 505 coal rakes without any demurrage charges, which was the highest record at that time. The Indian Railways has set a time limit of five hours per rake for unloading at Shri Singaji Thermal Power Plant.

 

If unloading exceeds this timeframe, the Railways impose a demurrage charge of Rs 9,000 per hour. Ensuring timely unloading of coal rakes is a complex task that requires the continuous availability of systems and equipment. Completing the unloading process within the prescribed time enhances the availability of rakes for coal transportation. This achievement was made possible due to the dedicated efforts of the plant’s engineers and personnel. Coal Handling Plant (CHP) team at Shri Singaji Thermal Power Plant strategically executed the unloading process on December 2024: 185 rakes unloaded, January 2025: 252 rakes unloaded, February 2025 (till 11th): 94 rakes unloaded. Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Pradyumn Singh Tomar, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Neeraj Mandloi, and Managing Director of the Power Generating Company Manjit Singh congratulated the entire team of engineers and personnel at Shri Singaji Thermal Power Plant for this remarkable achievement. They expressed confidence that the plant will continue to set new benchmarks in the future with similar outstanding performances.
