To further streamline the work of Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA), Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has asked officials to speed up the work of NMRDA Bhavan. According to highly placed source in Mumbai, the CM has asked Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule to search for the land where the NMRDA Bhavan may come up. On Wednesday, Fadnavis convened the meeting of the officials, ministers at ‘Sahyadri’ Guest House in Mumbai. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Revenue Minister and Nagpur’s Guardian Minister Chandershekhar Bawankule, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, NMRDA Commissioner Sajnay Meena and others also were present. In his tweet, Fadnavis has said that the land at Sondapar in Nagpur can be explored for NMRDA Bhavan.

NMRDA bhavan will house office and the residences of employees. At present NMRDA has to work from the office of Nagpur Improvement Trust. Earlier, the work area under NMRDA was small so it was easy to get executed its work from NIT office too. But after the ambit of NMRDA expanded, its works too have increased. Considering all these aspects, Fadnavis thought of establishing separate and independent office of NMRDA. Though the plan is at very primary level, Bawankule would finalise it in a day or two, the sources pointed out. Fadnavis has also asked the officials to set up the market of flowers for which the land should be acquired. The meeting also discussed the budget of NMRDA --Rs 20,273.88 crore. There are 37 proposals whose execution, approvals were taken up in the meeting.
