Child marriages, cases of POSCO high in rural areas due to lack of legal information: Chief Justice Kait

A legal literacy camp was organised in the school ground of Kalpi. Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait of Madhya Pradesh High Court attended the camp.
On this occasion, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kamal Joshi, Special Judge, RK Rawatkar, Collector, Somesh Mishra, Superintendent of Police, Rajat Saklecha, other judges of the district and departmental officers were present.
Addressing the community present, the Chief Justice said that, “the people for whom legal services are meant do not have adequate information about it. It is necessary to increase awareness regarding legal literacy in rural areas. Due to lack of information in remote rural areas, cases of child marriage and related POCSO Act come to the court. Legal literacy camps will have to be organised in such areas to inform the people. In tribal areas, minor boys and girls get lured and go out to work and become victims of some incest there.” He said that any low-income family, women, handicapped people, people from deprived sections can get legal aid, provided they have the information.
In the camp, District Judge, Praveen Kumar Sinha said that Madhya Pradesh Legal Services Authority works with the aim of providing legal aid to economically weaker sections, women, disabled people. Last year, 283 people have taken advantage of it. Lok Adalat is also organised through which many cases are settled. The purpose of Lok Adalat is to reduce the pressure of cases in the courts and provide justice to the people.
Chief Justice visited the building of CM Rise School under construction in Kalpi. On this occasion, he also observed the drawing of the building. He praised the construction of such school buildings in tribal areas for providing better education to the children of the area.
Along with the legal literacy camp, distribution of benefits of various schemes by the Chief Justice took place.
Beneficiary Jaisingh was given pension approval, hearing aid to hearing impaired Lakshmi, forest rights patta to Chandrakant, Nikshay kit to Hiralal, Savitri Maravi and Jawahar. In this sequence, disabled Gulabvati/Charandas were given tricycle, Sanju Yadav was given wheelchair and Ratiram was given crutches to strengthen them. The program was conducted by Shri Akhilesh Upadhyay.
During the legal literacy camp, Chief Justice, Suresh Kumar Kait inspected the stall of
schemes. He took information from the concerned at the stalls of Legal Services Authority, Mission Shakti, Financial Literacy, Cyber Security, Van Dhan Kendra etc.
