Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) is shifting its Examination and Result Department back to its old building near Maharajbag. Presently, the department is situated in the premises of Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University (LITU). Higher and Technical Education Department of Maharashtra had asked RTMNU to shift its establishments from LITU premises after Laxminarayan Institute of Technology got the deemed university status. The process of shifting its other departments already began but RTMNU’s earlier refusal to shift its Examination Department delayed the process.

 

Dr Prashant Bokare, Vice Chancellor, RTMNU told ‘The Hitavada’, “We have decided to move to our own premises near Maharajbag. Some of our departments have offices there which will be shifted in the present Jamnalal Bajaj Bhavan and Examination Department will function in old premises. We are planning to construct a building behind our existing Jamnalal Bajaj Bhavan which will house Examination Department.” LIT, which was a conducted college of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) became Unitary Public University and then got the deemed status. LIT needs its own campus vacant where it can start other courses.

 

The Examination Department was inaugurated during the tenure of Laxmanrao Dhoble, the then Higher and Technical Education Minister more than 20 years ago. Nobody had thought then that the department would shift to other place. Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology were merged into LITU. Some employees of RTMNU were accommodated by LITU. Dr Bokare pointed out, “The old building of university near Maharajbag is heritage building. But I feel it needs some renovation without disturbing its originality. We will seek permission from the Department of Archeology to do its renovation.” The scope of work of the examination department is very huge. It conducts examination, looks after the result, takes out marksheet, provides admit card, migration certificate, eligibility certificate, handles PhD work etc. Shifting it to a new premises is a huge task.
