Rashmi Nayak’s
1,500-word essay on the topic ‘Effective Safety Training Method for Steel Industry Workers for Improving Risk Perception’ was adjudged the best
Rashmi Nayak, an Engineering Associate in the Automation and Digitization Department of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), has brought pride to Bhilai by winning first place in the prestigious Safety Essay Competition 2024.
The competition was organised at the national level for the steel industry by the Joint Committee on Safety, Health, and Environment in Steel Industries (JCSSI).
Rashmi Nayak’s 1500-word essay on the topic ‘Effective Safety Training Method for Steel Industry Workers for Improving Risk Perception’ was adjudged the best among entries from steel professionals across the country. Her insightful and comprehensive approach to enhancing workplace safety earned her the coveted first prize.
This is not the first time that Rashmi Nayak has demonstrated her excellence in national competitions. Last year, she secured second place in the National Essay Competition organized by JCSSI. Additionally, she also claimed second place in the plant-level online impromptu essay writing competition organized by the Official Language Department of BSP.
Showcasing her diverse talents, Rashmi wrote, directed, and acted in the play “Yam Ka Yamlok,” which won second place in the Safety Drama Competition conducted by the Safety Engineering Department of BSP. The Joint Committee on Safety, Health, and Environment in Steel Industry (JCSSI) has been actively promoting safety awareness in the steel industry since its formation in 1973.
The committee includes 22 steel units from both the public and private sectors, encompassing major players such as SAIL steel plants, Tata Steel, JSW, RINL-Visakhapatnam, NINL, Bhushan Steel, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, Hospet Steels, NMDC Steel Plant-Nagarnar, and MN Dastur & Company.
Every year, JCSSI organises a national-level safety essay competition to encourage innovative ideas and best practices for enhancing safety in the steel industry.
