Jabalpur’s
Captain Ishita Bhargav has created history by becoming the first pilot in India to receive the Electronic Personal License (EPL). The milestone comes as India launches first-ever EPL for pilots, making it the second country in the world after China to implement the digital licensing system. With the same, commercial pilots will no longer need to carry a physical license. Instead, they can manage their licenses through a mobile app.
Union Civil Aviation Minister, Ram Mohan Naidu launched the EPL at a special event in New Delhi. This digital initiative eliminates the need for pilots to carry physical licenses, allowing them to manage their credentials conveniently through a mobile application. The system ensures easy access, efficient record-keeping and a significant reduction in paperwork, marking a major step towards a more streamlined and future-ready aviation sector.
Captain Ishita Bhargav, a resident of Nayagaon, Jabalpur recently completed her pilot training at the
Indira Gandhi Institute of Aeronautics in Uttar Pradesh. Having successfully completed her training, she has now earned the prestigious rank of Captain. Her remarkable
achievement not only brings immense pride to Sanskardhani but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring pilots across the country, particularly young women aiming to excel in aviation.
With the introduction of the EPL system, pilots can now store, access and maintain their licenses digitally, ensuring greater efficiency and accessibility. This move signifies a transformative shift in Indian aviation, reinforcing the country’s commitment to modernisation and technological advancement in the sector.
