at Prajapati Nagar on Wardhaman Nagar arm that was inaugurated on Thursday by NHAI n Staff Reporter For a businessman and his son, it was lucky escape after a lump of concrete fell off a newly inaugurated arm of Pardi fly-over project at Prajapati Nagar. The incident occurred on Friday morning. Incidentally, the piece of concrete came off the arm of Pardi project that was dedicated to citizens with fanfare on Thursday morning. Navneet Shrivastav, an office-bearer of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with his son were travelling in MG car. They were negotiating the Pardi stretch when their roof was hit by the lump of concrete that came off from Wardhaman Nagar arm of the fly-over. The fly-over arm was opened by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for citizens on Thursday. The chunk came crashing down from nearly 25 feet height and was quite heavy. One can still see the bridge's underneath from where the portion came off.

Fortunately the sturdy make of the car absorbed the shock of the concrete portion and both the occupants of the vehicle escaped unhurt. Soon after the incident, onlookers gathered at the spot even as Shrivastav and his son were still shaking. The two were just left staring at the damaged roof of their vehicle and the concrete chunk lying on the ground nearby. The Pardi project has been in news, first for collapse of an entire section of slab on APMC side about two years back. The mega project on which nearby Rs 100 crore were spent by Central Government was hit by delay. Finally when it was complete in totality, the citizens got a relief. But now coming of a plaster chunk has left citizens worried. A similar incident of plaster chunk felling off from underneath the bridge had occurred a few years back at Ujjwal Nagar. The plaster chunk was from double decker bridge on Wardha Road.
