KHADAKH Bahadur Singh of Raipur emerged victorious in the 70 age group men’s singles category at the State Veteran Badminton Championship held in Raigarh under the aegis of the Chhattisgarh Badminton Association. He defeated Deepak Rajankar of Bilaspur in a straight-set final, winning 21-17, 21-16.
In the men’s doubles final of the same age group, the duo of Khadakh Bahadur Singh and Sudhir Rege from Korba claimed championship by overcoming pair of Sapan Banerjee (Bhilai) and Deepak Rajankar (Bilaspur) with a score of 21-14, 21-15.
Following this double victory, Khadakh Bahadur Singh will represent
Chhattisgarh in the Veteran National Badminton Championship, scheduled to begin in Goa on March 21.
It is worth mentioning that Khadakh Bahadur Singh has previously secured the title in the National Veteran Badminton Competition. In the 65 years age group men’s doubles final, the team of Veerpal Singh Verma and B N Bagchi from Raipur emerged triumphant after a hard-fought match against Jogesh Samanta (Korba) and Simon William (Durg), winning 18-21, 26-24, 21-18. Meanwhile, in the 55 years age group men’s doubles category, the Raipur duo of Shashank Sharma and Sunil Malani clinched the championship by defeating Anand Dhar Diwan and Rajesh Gupta of Surguja with a score of 21-16, 21-18. The tournament witnessed intense competition, highlighting the skill and endurance of veteran badminton players across State.
