Finance Minister O P Choudhary to table the State Budget for the financial year 2025-25 on March 3
The Budget Session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will commence from Monday with an address by Governor Ramen Deka at 11 AM. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh addressing the media on Sunday said that the session will have a total of 17 sittings.
On the first day, the House will observe an obituary reference for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the third supplementary estimate for the financial year 2024-25 will be tabled. Following the Governor’s address, all Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will visit the newly-constructed Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly building in Nava Raipur, Atal Nagar.
During the budget session, on February 25, discussions on the third supplementary estimate will be held. On February 27-28, discussions on the Governor’s address, March 3, State Budget presentation for the financial year 2025-26 at 12:30 PM by Finance Minister O P Choudhary. March 4-5, discussions on the State Budget.
On March 6-19 department-wise demands for grants will be discussed. On March 19, Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill-2025 will be tabled and on March 20, discussions and passage of the Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill-2025. Chhattisgarh Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill-2025 will also be tabled.
A total of 2,367 questions have been received for the session, including 1,220 starred and 1,147 unstarred questions. Additionally, 122 call attention motions, 18 private resolutions, 60 general resolutions, and 12 zero-hour notices have been submitted. One discussion has been proposed under Rule 139.
Speaker Dr Raman Singh urged opposition parties to utilise the budget session effectively by raising public issues in the House.
“The opposition is requested to make maximum use of the proceedings inside the Assembly rather than outside it,” he said adding that with crucial discussions ahead, the Budget session
is expected to be a significant platform for policy debates and legislative actions in Chhattisgarh. A two-day orientation program for all MLAs will be conducted at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur. Efforts are underway for the complete digitalization of the Legislative Assembly. Additionally, there are plans to send a delegation of MLAs for training in London and Singapore. Commenting on the BJP’s recent success in the civic body elections, Dr. Singh likened it to a “hat-trick” victory, crediting Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for implementing the ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ initiatives effectively.
