The journey to Saragaon, a village nestled 75 kilometres from the bustling Raipur-Ambikapur Road, is a passage through time that leads to the Dhoomnath Temple, a silent sentinel standing as a testament to Chhattisgarh’s forgotten grandeur. This is not just a temple; it’s a whisper from the Kalchuri period, a story etched in stone and brick, waiting to be heard. The exploration of Chhattisgarh’s hidden heritage goes through many remarkable places, but the Dhoomnath Temple holds a unique allure. While originally dedicated to Shiva, the sanctum now houses a Sindoor-coated idol, and worship is conducted in the name of Dhoomeshwari Devi.
