3 sisters meet watery grave in Saoli; 3 youths perish in Wardha river in Rajura

As many as six persons drowned in two separate incidents that took place in Chandrapur district on Wednesday. The deceased include three young sisters from Chandrapur city, who met a watery grave in Saoli tehsil. Also, three youths met with a tragic end in Rajura tehsil. On Wednesday afternoon, the Mandal family members from Babupeth Ward in Chandrapur had gone to bathe in the Wainganga river in Saoli tehsil on the occasion of Mahashivratri. They reached the area under the bridge near Vyahad on Saoli-Gadchiroli road. Pratima Prakash Mandal (23), Kavita Prakash Mandal (22) and Lipika Prakash Mandal (18), along with other family members entered in river but soon the they started drowning in the deep water of the river.
 
Other members of the family standing on the banks raised an alarm for help. A woman and a little boy were pulled out of the water to safety but the sister went missing. Saoli Police reached the spot. Disaster management team launched a search for the trio and Kavita’s body was found while the two others were missing till the filing of this report. Police Inspector Kulwar is conducting the investigations. In yet another tragic incident that took place in Rajura tehsil of Chandrapur, three youths from Chunala village drowned in Wardha river on Ballarpur-Rajura road on Wednesday. When people saw the three youths drowning they raised an alarm for help. Ramchandra Ragi, who was nearby, entered the water and tried to save them, but in vain. Meanwhile, Sarpanch of Chunala, Balnath Wadaskar informed Rajura Police. Cops from Rajura and Ballarpur police stations reached the spot and started search for the youths. Rajura Tehsildar Dr Omprakash Gond called the rescue team and arranged a boat to find the youths.Their was no trace of either of them till filing of this report.
 
Youth drowns in Wainganga in Gadchiroli Gadchiroli, Feb 26 A youth drowned in Wainganga river when he had gone to take a a bath on the occasion of Mahashivratri on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Santosh (24). Five friends from Mahankali Ward of Chandrapur had come to Markandadev in the district for Mahashivratri. Before having darshan they went to Sakhari Ghat (Chandrapur limits) in the Wainganga for bathing. Suddenly, around 12.30 pm, three of them started drowning. People managed to rescue two persons, but unfortunately, Abhishek could be saved. Chamorshi police and the disaster management team recovered the body.
