RAIPUR,
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao defended the actions of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor scam case, stating that the investigation is based on concrete evidence and facts. Speaking to reporters at his residence in Raipur, Sao criticised the Congress for attempting to politicise the matter and divert public attention.
The ED’s investigation is progressing transparently, and arrests have been made based on solid evidence. No individual arrested in connection with the case has been granted bail so far, proving the credibility of the investigation,” Sao said. He accused the Congress of making baseless allegations to deflect attention from their own financial irregularities. The Congress should provide explanations for the ED’s inquiries, including details about their offices built in Sukma and Konta. These issues have been prominently reported in the media, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Sao spoke about the challenges faced by the State Government in addressing financial mismanagement left behind by the previous Congress administration.
Referring to the recently passed third supplementary budget, Sao said, efforts are being made to fix the financial disarray caused by the Congress. The state is burdened with debt due to their irregularities, including misuse of funds from the Electricity Board and loans taken at high-interest rates. He further mentioned the CGMSC scam, stating that the investigation into the matter is in progress. “The Congress’s financial mismanagement has left Chhattisgarh in a precarious position, and the current government is taking corrective steps to restore order,” he added. Sao described BJP’s recent success in urban body and three-tier panchayat elections as a historic victory.
He accused the Congress of misusing power during their tenure and manipulating local elections. Instead of introspection, the Congress is indulging in baseless allegations, he said. Responding to Congress leader Deepak Baij’s statement that everyone in the party should take responsibility for electoral defeats, Sao remarked, “The Congress is plagued by internal politics and blame games. Their infighting has turned them into a sinking ship, and the people of Chhattisgarh are no longer willing to tolerate their misgovernance.”
