Kantakka carried a reward of Rs 16 lakh while Suresh carried reward of Rs 2 lakh
TWO hardcore Naxals including Divisional Committee member Kanta alias Kantakka alias Mandi Galu Pallo and Party member Suresh alias Warlu Irpa Majji surrendered before Gadchiroli Police and CRPF on Thursday.
Kanta (DVCM, Supply Team), aged 56, is a resident of Gudanjur (Rith), in Bhamragad taluka while Suresh alias Warlu Irpa Majji, a party member of Bhamragad LOS, aged 30, is a resident of Miladapalli in Bhamragad carried a reward of Rs 16 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively.
Kanta was recruited in Madded LOS in 1993 and worked until 1995. A total of 11 crimes have been registered against her. These include 7 encounters, 1 Arson and 3 others. Suresh was recruited as Member of Bhamragad LOS in 2021 and worked until September 2024.
He was involved in an encounter.
According to police, the surrenders were a result of continuous patrolling by police and ill-treatment by senior Maoist cadres, male Maoists run away leaving woman members during encounters, tribals being killed on suspicion, women being badly discriminated, money collected is never used for people, and no development.
Due to the intensified Anti-Maoist operations of the Police and the golden opportunity to surrender, 55 hardcore Maoists have surrendered before the Gadchiroli Police from the year 2022 till date.
The present surrender was carried out under the guidance of Sandip Patil, Special IGP (ANO) Ankit Goyal, DIG, Gadchiroli Range, Ajai Kumar Sharma, DIG (Ops.) CRPF, Neelotpal, SP Gadchiroli, Parvinder Singh, Commandant 192 Bn CRPF.
Neelotpal has assured that all necessary assistance will be provided to those willing to surrender. He appealed active Maoists to renounce the path of violence, adopt the path of peace and join the national mainstream.
