Nandankar-Aland wins doubles title

 

RIAAN Nandankar-Shlok Aland pair dominated Viraj Kulkarni and Swaraj Bhosale in a match that lasted less than hour to take home boys doubles title in the ongoing MSLTA-NDHTA All India Ranking Super Series Under 12 Tennis Tournament held at Nagpur District Hardcourt Tennis Association’s Ram Nagar courts. Dominating from the opening serve Nandankar-Aland beat their opponents by 6-0, 6-1 to take home gold. In the Girls doubles finals, top seed Falak Mehta of Rajkot and Anisha Cornelio of Bengaluru fought hard to beat the equally strong second seed pair of Vrissa Chattwani-Gargi Oak of Mumbai and Pune. In the Boys singles semi-finals, top-seeded Riaan Nandankar (S1) brushed aside his opponent Ethan Lahoti (S4) from Mumbai 6-0, 6-1.

 

The other semis match was a treat for the crowd witnessing beautiful rallies by right-handed Vishnu Pandey (S8) beat city-mate Anay Sumant (S3) of Pune 6-2, 6-3 who is left-handed. In the girls singles last-four, consistent Kashika Karnam (S8) from Hyderabad defeated her friend and city-mate Aleeza Simra 6-0, 6-1 booking her spot in finals. While Asmi Pitre (S3) of Pune came from one set down and produced a brilliant game to overpower Anisha Cornelio (S2) of Bangalore 2-6, 6-1, 7-5. Dr Sudhir Bhiwapurkar, Tournament Director; Vijay Naidu, Tournament Secretary and Vikram Naidu, Joint Secretary NDHTA gave away the trophies. The results were announced by Tejal Kulkarni, AITA Tournament Referee. The final two matches of Boys and Girls singles will be held on Friday morning.
