Amravati division tops the list with 70.51% 
 
Despite normal rains in previous Southwest Monsoon season in Nagpur division, major dams in the region have the lowest water storage as compared to other divisions of the State. Nagpur division had 61.13 per cent of water storage last year and at this time this year, the water level in all dams is 60.37 per cent. The scorching summer season is still one month away but increasing temperature is raising concern among the administration. As compared to previous year’s water storage, all divisions in Maharashtra have more water storage except Nagpur.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar had just 31.78 per cent of water stock last year, but this time, it has 64.92 per cent, which is second lowest after Nagpur division. Konkan division had 68.53 per cent water stock on Febraury 3 and last year, it was 68.93 per cent. Amravati division had the highest 70.51 per cent of water stock on this date followed by Nashik (69.81%) and Pune (69.56%). Despite lowest water storage in State, Totladoh dam, which is a major water provider to Nagpur city, has 72.08 per cent of water stock, which will help in catering the demand of people at least for the next one year.
 
As per the data provided by the Water Resource Department of Government of Maharashtra, Totladoh dam has 883.02 Mcum of water stock. Last year, on this date, Totladoh had 64.72 per cent water stock. Kamptee Khairy, another important dam in Nagpur district, has 54.69 per cent of water level, which is almost 12 per cent less than last year’s stock. Similarly, all major dams of Bhandara and Chandrapur districts also have less water storage as compared to previous year. Whereas, Gondia, Gadchiroli and Wardha districts are better as compared to Bhandara and Chandrapur. The total design storage capacity of all major dams of Nagpur division is 5578.61 Mcum and till Monday, the total live storage of the division is 3754.23 Mcum.
