ACCOUNTANT General (AG) Maharashtra were shocked by stellar performance from AG Madhya Pradesh in the inaugural match of the Indian Audit & Accounts Department (IA&AD) West Zone Football Tournament, 2025, conducted by Office of the Accountant General (Audit) II, Maharashtra, Nagpur under the patronship of Dattaprasad Shirsat, IAAS, Accountant General (Audit), Nagpur. At Shivaji Stadium, Police Headquarters, Katol Road. Yash Shukla scored the opening goal in the 7th minute for Madhya Pradesh. Stun by reverse, Maharashtra went into attack mode and earned a penalty. Jung Bahadur made no mistake in converting the spit kick to equalise the score. Akbar Sidhique, who played for I-League team Gokulam Kerala was well supported by team-mate Zahid Akhtar as the duo combined well upfront.

 

Sunny Das then scored the winner for Madhya Pradesh with a solo effort in the 45th minute. He snatched the ball from his own half and took a long shot which went to the right corner of the post. Maharashtra’s Raju Gaikwad took multiple shots at the goal but to no avail. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Jaya Bhagat, IAAS, Principal Accountant General (A&E), Maharashtra, Nagpur. Dinesh Mate, Sr DAG, Meghna Jain, Vinit Ghadge, Sr Audit Officer were also present. Akshay Khandare, Sr DAG, Dr Bhushan Bhirud, Sr DAG, Ms B Manimozhi, DAG, Meghna Jain DAG, Mangesh Tongo and others were present in large numbers.
