Acting on a tip off, the teams of Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Anti Terrorist Branch (ATB) from Bhandara with the assistance of local police conducted raid on the Rajkamal Dry Cleaning Art shop situated in Indira Nagar in Tumsar on Tuesday. The team confiscated unaccounted cash of Rs 5 crore. Police had detained nine persons in connection for interrogation.
Speaking with ‘The Hitavada’, Superintendent of Police Noorul Hasan informed that higher officials of Axis Bank have been informed and they will be in Tumsar soon. The process of lodging FIR in the case was going till the filing of this report.
On getting information, SP Hasan asked his teams of LCB and ATB to carry out the raid on Rajkamal Dry Cleaning Art shop.
The police team seized a haul of cash Rs 5 crore.
The money was kept in the box having denominations of Rs 500 and Rs100 notes. It took around two hours for the police team to
count the cash with the help of machines. According to SP Hasan, Axis Bank Branch Manager was lured by some people having connection from Gondia and neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
They assured the Manager to return him Rs 6 crore if he gives them Rs 5 crore. Primafacie, the fund was taken from the bank by the manager.
“We have informed senior officials of Axis Bank and more information could be obtained once they reach Tumsar,” told SP Hasan. In all, nine persons have
been detained for interrogation, he said.
The action was carried out by the LCB and ATB teams with the help of local police in which senior Police Inspector Nitin Chincholkar, Police Inspector Milind Tayade, Pradeep Shahare, Pankaj Bhitre, Sachin Deshmukh, Ravindra Gabhne, Sachin Sarode, Rajendra Thakre, Devendra Chamat, Vijay Aarne joined by PSI Sayyam, Parimal Mulkalwar, Bandu Kachgunde, Raju Girepunje and others participated in the raid.
