Shivaji Maharaj’s ‘Wagh Nakh’ to be displayed at Central Museum from today

‘Shivshastra Shourya Gatha’, an exhibition of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s period weapons, especially featuring ‘Wagh Nakh’ brought from Victoria and Albert Museum, London, will be opened for public on Friday at Central Museum in Civil lines. The exhibition is hosted in a special hall at Central Museum, which will be inaugurated at 12.30 pm in presence of Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Highways and Road Transport; Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister; Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Ministers; Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister of Nagpur district; Shivendraraje Bhosale, Minister of Public Works; Ashish Shelar, Minister of Cultural Affairs; and Adv Ashish Jaiswal, Minister of State.
 
The live-streaming arrangements of the programme will be made at Suresh Bhat Sabhagruh, Reshimbagh. The dignitaries will also attend the main programme at Suresh Bhat Sabhagruh at 1.15 pm. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj holds a special place for the people of the State. ‘Afzal Khan Vadh’, killing of Afzal Khan is one of the well-known episodes of his life. He had used the ‘Wagh Nakh’ to kill Afzal Khan.
 
The ‘Wagh Nakh’ weapon, that will be showcased at the exhibition, is procured by Government of India and Government of Maharashtra for limited time period. Chhatrapati Udayan Raje Bhosale, Shyamkumar Barwe, Member of Parliament; Abhijeet Wanjari, Sudhakar Adbale, Parinay Fuke, Krupal Tumane, Members of Legislative Councils; Dr Nitin Raut, Krishna Khopde, Pravin Datke, Mohan Mate, Vikas Thakre, Samir Meghe, Charansingh Thakur, Ashish Deshmukh, Sanjay Meshram, Members of Legislative Assembly; Mudhojiraje Bhosale; Madhavi Khode, incharge Divisional Commissioner; Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, Commissioner of Police; Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari, Municipal Commissioner; Dr Vipin Itankar, District Collector; Shobha Madhale, Postmaster General; Vinayak Mahamuni, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad will be prominently present. Dr Tejas Garge, Director, Directorate of Archaeology and Museums; and Vibhishan Chavre, Director of Cultural Affairs Maharashtra, have appealed to the public to attend the programme in large numbers.
