HSE audit conducted at BHEL

A Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) audit was conducted at the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bhopal, by a two-member team from the corporate office, New Delhi. The audit aimed to assess and enhance workplace safety, health standards, and environmental compliance. The closing ceremony of the audit program was attended by A. Aurangabadkar, General Manager (WEX & MOD). In his address, he emphasised BHEL Bhopal’s commitment to continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental standards. He assured the audit team that all deficiencies and suggestions would be positively addressed at the earliest. Sapan Suhane, Additional General Manager (HSE), highlighted the different phases of the audit.
 
He stated that under the leadership of the Executive Director, safety and environmental concerns are being given top priority. He mentioned that several key initiatives have been launched to enhance safety culture within the organisation. The lead auditor, Manish Kumar, Senior Manager (BHEL Corporate-HSE), provided a detailed briefing on the HSE audit process. He stated that the audit focused on: Mutual communication, Shop floor inspections and Document verification. He appreciated the efforts made by various departments of BHEL Bhopal in maintaining high standards in health, safety, and environmental protection. Furthermore, he highlighted the significant steps being taken by BHEL towards achieving the GreenCo rating, with BHEL Bhopal playing a crucial role in this initiative. Piyush Kumar Pal, Senior Safety Officer (BHEL-Haridwar), shared insights on best practices and initiatives being implemented in other BHEL units. The programme was attended by Additional General Managers, Department Heads, and HSE Officers. The event was conducted by Rajkumar Meena, Manager, while a vote of thanks was proposed by Giriraj Agarwal, Deputy General Manager (HSE). This HSE audit reaffirms BHEL Bhopal’s commitment to workplace safety and environmental responsibility, ensuring that the company continues to operate with the highest standards of health, safety, and sustainability.
