In order to meet revenue targets set for current financial year, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched a ward-wise tax recovery drive. Divisional officers and Revenue officials are visiting taxpayers’ homes and recovering outstanding dues.
Accordingly, senior officials along with employees of Revenue Department seized properties of big defaulters in Divisions 2 and 11, on Friday.
Along with that they also disconnected water connections of consumers who are not paying water tax. Officials also encouraged people to pay their outstanding dues as early as possible and avoid action.
Officials informed that they conducted the drive in Madan Mahal Ward under division 2, Jawaharlal Nehru Ward under division no. 11, as well as other wards. They pasted seizure notices on buildings of defaulters. Officials said they are trying
to make contact with other taxpayers with outstanding payments. Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav has asked senior officials of Revenue Department to expedite on-going drive and collect maximum pending dues regularly.
