State Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh has on Saturday informed that a new high-speed four-lane highway will be constructed between Jabalpur and Bhopal. Likewise, processes have commenced to connect Jabalpur to Raipur Expressway. Highlighting the need for a high-speed route between Jabalpur and Bhopal, Singh said that he had consistently pursued this initiative. During the recent Indian Road Congress conference held in Bhopal, he discussed two major road projects with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. The first project includes construction of a new high-speed four-lane highway between Jabalpur and Bhopal, while the second focuses on linking Jabalpur with the Lakhnadon-Raipur Expressway. Following these discussions, Union Minister Gadkari has directed the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the new highway. Expressing happiness, Singh stated that NHAI has been instructed to proceed with the DPR for the Jabalpur-Bhopal highway. Once completed, the report will explore the shortest possible route between the two cities after which further action will be initiated. Singh also informed that Union Minister Gadkari has issued directions for linking Jabalpur with the Lakhnadon-Raipur Expressway.

A meeting with NHAI officials was held to discuss various possible routes and four to five alternative routes were examined in detail. During the meeting, Singh suggested that if the expressway connection passes through Mandla district, it would create a new route to Visakhapatnam and Raipur while also promoting development in tribal regions. He said all possible alternatives would be considered before proceeding with final plan. The State PWD Minister emphasized that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Minister Gadkari, road infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh is developing at a rapid pace. He also highlighted the commitment of State’s BJP government, led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, ensuring significant infrastructural development in the near future.
