Coming down heavily on President of the United States Donald Trump’ tariff policy, Yog Guru Baba Ramdev on Sunday termed it ‘Tariff Terrorism’ and said it is disastrous for the world. Interacting with the media on the sideline of the inauguration of Patanjali’s Mega Food and Herbal Park in MIHAN, Baba Ramdev said Trump’s tariff policy has led to creation of ‘economic terrorism’.

 

“We have seen political colonisation and economic colonisation. But today, we are seeing a new era of intellectual colonisation since the arrival of Donald Trump,” he said. Trump is not paying heed to bodies like the United Nations (UN) and World Trade Organisation (WTO). He also wants to dictate terms to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. This is nothing but an extreme form of nationalism. No civilised country can endorse such a point,” Swami Ramdev observed.

 

The Co-Founder of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd further alleged that Trump was manipulating the value of dollars. “Currency value of many poor and developing countries is falling because of him. This ‘terrorism’ is leading the world to a different era and we need to stop it,” he said, appealing to the like-minded nations to join hands and fight against the disruptive policies of Trump. To a query on the recent controversy over Aurangzeb’s tomb, Ramdev said Aurangzeb is not ideal for India. “He belongs to a family that came to loot India. They tortured thousands of women. They cannot be our ideals. People like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj are our ideal,” he stressed.
