Shruti, Bhavi emerge best swimmers

JD Sports Foundation organises Women’s Empowerment Week
 
JD SPORTS Foundation organised Women’s Empowerment Week’ on the occasion of International Women’s Day from March 2 to March 8. Various activities were organised for women and girls. A free swimming facility was provided to women at the National Institute of Swimming at Manewada-Besa Road. A swimming competition was also organised for girls Under-12, Under-14 and women in open categories. The titles of ‘Best Woman Swimmer of City’ and ‘Best Girl Swimmer of City’ went to Shruti Gandhi and Bhavi Rajgire, respectively. In the 100m breaststroke, Vedika Sable won the gold medal from the women’s open category and Dakshika Khodankar won the yellow metal in girls’ under-12 age group.
 
In the women’s 100m freestyle, Shravani Garja and Arashti Chinnamwar won the silver medals in under-12 age group. All the winning swimmers were felicitated by Dr Sambhaji Bhosale, Secretary, Swimming Association of Maharashtra, Dr Jayaprakash Duble, Director, National Institute of Swimming, and Prof Sham Falke, Master Trainer of Road Safety and Patrolling distributed certificates and medals. Jayant Duble, chief organiser of Women Empowerment Week, made the introductory remark. Prajakta Duble welcomed the guests. Arun Bute, Dr Dnyanesh Dhakulkar, Uttam Lohkare, Sushil Duragkar worked hard for the success of the event.
