Nagpur District Unified Hockey team entered final of Sub-Junior Girls Asmita State Hockey League underway at Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium, Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune on Tuesday.
In the semis, Nagpur girls, who won all their league games and are undefeated in the tourney, got the better of Thane by a solitary goal. The all important goal came on a rebound hit by Maitri Thakre in 56th minute of the fourth quarter of the last-four clash. Nagpur skipper Shrawani Tulankar’s powerful strike on a penalty corner got deflected from the rival goalkeeper and an alert Maitri made most of the opportunity. They will take on hosts Pune in the final.
Coach Rajkumar Jha and manager Pranjal Shyamkuwar, both PTIs with Mount Litera Zee School, are training and supporting the girls.
