Ramtek town with no gardens left

By Vijay Pande :

Ramtek town, which is a tourist destination of Nagpur district and has a population of 25,000 people, has no garden for local people even after 78 years of independence. When Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is developing its existing gardens throughout the city, the Ramtek Municipal Council has no plans to build new gardens for local residents. The Ramtek Municipal Council got funds from the state government for construction and development of gardens in the town. The administration constructed some gardens like Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Balodyan, Nehru Garden, Ambedkar Udyan, Nagar Parishad Garden, Kalanka Devi Udyan, Ram Talai Garden, and Om Garden in the town. However, due to poor maintenance, all the gardens lost their charms, and the public money was wasted. In these seven gardens, not a single one has a water facility available for visitors.

Nagar Parishad Balodyan, which was one of the biggest gardens in the town, had all basic facilities like drinking water supply, children's rides, electricity, etc. but due to poor maintenance, it is now turned into an open space without any facility. Tukadoji Maharaj Garden, which is situated just 100 m away from Ramtek Municipal Council, is also in poor shape. Except Nagar Parishad Garden, not a single garden in the town has toilet facilities for visitors. Residents raised the issue many times before the administration, but nothing has happened so far.
