Villagers and farmers of many villages staged road blockade after being fed up with the problem of low voltage and transformer failure issue in their area. The villagers of Navegaon-3 Tola, Dongarmali, Aarambha, Bitodi, Bhanpur, Mohadi, Ladsada of Waraseoni Assembly constituency are troubled since many days due to low voltage and frequent transformer failures. Due to this about 25-30 villages are not getting adequate electricity supply. Even after informing about their problems to the administration and public representatives and giving memorandums, none paid heed to give respite to them. Hence, the angry farmers and villagers staged ‘dharna’ and sat on road and blocked Waraseoni-Dongarmali-Beni road at village Navegaon-3 Tola Chowk since 8 am on Wednesday.

This road blockade and sit-in protest continued till about 2 pm. On getting information about the protest, MLA, Waraseoni-Khairlanji area Vivek Vicky Patel reached the spot and after discussing with the villagers, he himself also joined the protestt. He expressed displeasure against the BJP Government and the Electricity Department. On receiving the information, the police force of Rampaili, Khairlanji reached the spot and tried to convince the villagers. But they did not listen to the police either. After which SDM Rajiv Ranjan Pandey and EE B L Bhaina reached the spot and assured the villagers to resolve the problem as soon as possible.

After which the farmers ended their agitation. During the agitation the road remained closed for about six hours. The villagers had blocked the road by placing bikes and bamboos on it. Due to which long queues of two-wheelers and four-wheelers were formed on both sides of the road. The senior officers who reached the spot to pacify the agitated villagers, called EE, Electricity Department B L Bhaina to the spot and instructed him to arrange for a transformer. Then the farmers ended their agitation. Khairlanji Block Congress President Gokul Gautam said that more than 25-30 villages are being affected due to frequent breakdown of transformers.

Former District Panchayat member Vikram Deshmukh said that in the month of February, hundreds of farmers of this village had informed him about the electricity problem. After which he met officers of Electricity Department. But the officials did not take the problems of the farmers seriously. MLA Vivek Vicky Patel said that due to the negligence of the Electricity Department, there is a problem in the entire district. He would keep on raising this issue in the Assembly. Sarpanch Sandeep Lilhare, Anil Piprewar, Monu Turkar, Viru Bisen, and many villagers were present in the protest.
