A WOMAN was injured after her moped was struck head-on by a car driven by a minor returning from school in Nehru Nagar (East), Bhilai, on Monday morning.
The erring minor with three of his classmates, who were traveling in a speeding car, escaped unharmed. The police apprehended the underage driver and registered an offense. According to police reports, at around 11:30 am, Sunita Arde (34), a resident of Kosanagar, Supela, was en-route to pick up her children from school when the accident occurred. A student from Delhi Public School, Durg, who was behind the wheel, lost control of the car while speeding with
three classmates on board.
The collision left Sunita Arde with injuries to her chin and minor bruises. The impact threw her off her moped, which was then dragged beneath the car until it crashed into a nearby lamppost. The Supela Police have registered the offense under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, citing rash driving and causing injury.
Inspector Rajesh Mishra, Station House Officer of Supela Police Station, confirmed that legal proceedings against the minor driver are ongoing.
