Under the aegis of Headquarters Madhya Bharat Area, Military Hospital Jabalpur organised an awareness programme to mark ‘World Obesity Day’ on Tuesday. The day is observed to highlight the growing concerns of obesity and its ill effects on health. This year’s theme is ‘Changing Systems: Healthy Living’. The theme indicate the fact that obesity is a complex, multifaceted issue. There is a need to change systems and environments to address obesity. The day was celebrated through by an awareness lecture and poster display on obesity and lifestyle at Niramaya Hall of Military Hospital Jabalpur.
A large numbers of Army personnel and their families of Jabalpur Military Station attended the event.
A health talk on effects of obesity on body and preventive aspects were imparted by Lt Col Vijaykumar More, Officer Commanding, Station Health Organisation, Jabalpur to the audience. This was followed by a lecture on diet and obesity by Poorva Magarkar Belle, Dietician, Military Hospital, Jabalpur. She urged all to avoid junk food and high fat foods and encouraged all to adopt a balanced diet and daily exercise.
