Dear students, in this era of ‘smartness’, if you adopt smart means and ways to study for your SSC board exams, then it will definitely help you to score good marks. Each one of you wishes to secure good marks. Don’t wish for it; Work for it. Once you have thoroughly revised your lessons, next step is to understand the nuances of question paper. Science and technology paper II is based on biology, EVS and chemistry chapters. Let me stress on an important aspect here that there is almost equal weightage of marks to all the lessons.
Question papers of both Science I and Science II are activity sheets. It also includes questions testing higher order thinking skills (HOTS).
Here are some before the exam preparation tips
*Understand the paper pattern
Q.1 A) This section is multiple choice questions based on text book. It means that questions are not based on practical. For preparing this question, you need to go through your lessons and concepts.
Q.1 B) This is objective type question which may include True or False, odd one out, Match the pairs, finding the correlated terms, give the names, etc. Practice of such types of questions will help you to deal with this section.
Q.2 A) Scientific reasons will be asked in this section with only 1 option. Scientific reasons are a type of HOTS.
Such questions with almost no optional questions needs extra practice.
Q.2 B) There are 5 questions.
Minimum 2 from Biology and 2 from EVS, 1 from Chemistry. There is diagram-based question, completing flow chart, distinguish between questions based on pictures, charts, tables given in text book, etc.
Q.3 There are 8 questions in this section; 4 from Biology and 4 from EVS and Chemistry. It includes question types such as complete the table, complete/correct the diagram, complete the paragraph using given words, explain the laws, paragraph-based questions, make a concept map, etc.
Q.4 This is the section there are 2 questions, 1 from Biology and 1 from EVS/Chemistry. It may include sub questions like draw diagram and explain in detail, make a detail concept map, etc.
*Practice writing Answers
Review all your descriptive topics for preparing and solve some past exam papers. Write to-the-point answers as per marks allocation. Your prior exam revision should not be just hard work but it should be a smart and rightly pointed work. Some lessons are such that they will help you to increase your score considerably. For example, Lesson no.5 Towards green energy, is the only Chemistry lesson, so all Chemistry questions are prepared if you properly prepare this lesson.
*Time management strategy
Allocate time as per sections.
15 mins for MCQ and objectives
30 to 40 mins for Ques 2 A) B)
45 mins for Ques 3
15 mins for ques 4
*During exam answering strategy:
Read the entire question paper carefully in the first few minutes.
Attempt the easier questions first. Write neatly and avoid overwriting especially for MCQs. As per the rule, your very first response is considered for MCQs
Write pointwise for clarity.
Draw neat diagrams and label clearly with sharp pencil.
Underline key scientific terms and important points.
Manage time wisely, do not spend too much time on single question.
Attempt extra questions if time permits.
Review your paper before submitting. Check for spelling mistakes in scientific terms
*Important tips:
*Study all pictures, diagrams and tables given in your text book.
*Find answers of all do you know, use your brain power, can you tell questions given in your text book.
