2 miners killed as slab collapses in MOIL’s Chikla mine

IN A tragic accident in the Chikla Mine of MOIL in Gobarwahi in Tumsar tehsil, two labourers lost their lives while one is sustained serious injuries when the overhead slab collapsed on Wednesday at around 9 am. According to PI Sharad Shewale, during the first shift of work in the morning labourers Arun Jivanlal Chormaar (41), a resident of Seetasawangi, Vijay Nandlal Warkhade(50), a resident of Kharpadia in Tirodi of the neighbouring Madhya Pradesh along with Shankar Vishwakarma and others were busy in mining of manganese from the Chikla Mine.
 
They were working 100 metres deep from under the ground when at around 9 am, the upper slab collapsed and fell on them, crushing them. Buried under the debries, Arun Chormaar and Vijay Warkhede died on the spot whereas Shankar Vishwakarma sustained critical injuries. Shankar was rescued by the rescue team of the Mine and was rushed to a private hospital in Bhandara. The bodies of the two dead miners were sent to Sub District Hospital in Tumsar for postmortem. On getting the information, SP Noorul Hasan, Additional SP Ishwar Katkhade, Tehsilder Mohan Tikle joined by Naib Tehsilder Sanjay Jambhulkar, PI Sharad Shewale with his team reached the spot and took stock over the situation and inspected the rescue efforts. Collector Dr Sanjay Kolte also went to Bhandara hospital to check on the condition of the injured miner.
