JNMMC’s camp at Pahanda marks World Hearing Day

Villager of Pahanda availing free check-up by experts

THE Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BSLP) team from the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) at Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College (JNMMC), Raipur, organised a free checkup and awareness camp in village Pahanda, District Durg, to mark World Hearing Day on Wednesday. Doctors, course coordinators, associate professors, audiologists, speech therapists, staff nurses, medical social workers and students actively participated in the camp. The team conducted comprehensive examinations, treatments and hearing assessments for villagers suffering from ear, nose and throat-related ailments.
 
The initiative was successfully conducted with the support of the village sarpanch, panch and local residents. Meanwhile, a free Audiometry, Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) and Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry (BERA) tests are conducted for two-days in the ENT Department of the hospital as part of the World Hearing Day observance. The camp served as an important step in raising awareness about hearing health and ensuring medical support for the rural population.
