Bihar Police conducted a raid on a red light area in Natwar Bazar, Rohtas district, rescuing 47 minors, including around 41 girls from Chhattisgarh and 4 boys from Rohtas. Five individuals involved in the trafficking and exploitation of these minors have been arrested. The raid, prompted by secret intelligence, revealed a disturbing network of exploitation. Many dancers managed to escape during the operation and are currently being pursued by law enforcement. A member of the Child Welfare Committee stated that the rescued girls hail from impoverished families in Chhattisgarh. They were lured into prostitution with promises of money, with some being ‘bought’ for amounts ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000.

He revealed that the girls had been trapped in this cycle of exploitation for approximately two years. Some were forced into prostitution by their own parents for financial gain, while others were compelled to dance for customers. “First these girls were made to dance in orchestras. After this, when these girls started getting trained slowly, they were given to customers. During this, bad things were also done with those girls. Half of the money received from this customer went to the girl’s family,” CWC member stated. Rohtas Superintendent of Police Roshan Kumar stated that the raid was conducted based on confidential information and with the assistance of an NGO. “Police has raided with the help of an NGO. 47 minor boys and girls were rescued.

Their age and other information is being investigated. These people used to bring girls from other states. They used to force them to do different things,” Kumar said. The rescued minors have been presented before the Child Welfare Committee in Sasaram for age verification and further investigation. The police are actively working to dismantle the entire trafficking network and identify other individuals involved. The police raid has created panic among other red light areas in the district, where similar trafficking operations are suspected to be active. The SP has assured that these rackets will be exposed and those involved will be brought to justice.
