Road accidents in CG record 12 deaths in 24 hrs

Tragic accidents across Chhattisgarh on Wednesday and Thursday have left twelve dead and many grieving. The capital city, Raipur, witnessed a catastrophic road accident on National Highway 53, while separate incidents in Narayanpur and the Purani Basti area claimed additional lives. A devastating collision between a truck and a car on National Highway 53 near Mayur College in the Mandir Hasaud Police Station area resulted in the deaths of five individuals. The accident occurred due to the bursting of the car’s tyre, causing the vehicle to veer out of control, break the divider, and collide head-on with a truck travelling in the opposite direction on the other side. The impact was so severe that the car was completely shattered. Police and emergency responders had to use a crane to extract the bodies, which were unrecognisable due to the extent of the damage. Among the deceased, there were women, but the identities of the victims remain unknown as of now.
 
The ill-fated car bore the registration number CG-04-NQ-5063, registered in Raipur. The accident caused a massive traffic jam on the highway. Raipur ASP (Rural) and a significant police force reached the site to manage the situation and restore order. Eyewitness accounts indicated that the high-speed car’s tyre burst triggered the catastrophic sequence of events. Police identified four victims Mohammad Feroz (47), resident of Urla, Mohammad Hasnain (40), resident of Urla (Acholi Bazar), Mohammad Miraz Khan (35), resident of Gazinagar Birgaon and Mohammad Kitabuddin (30), resident of Gazinagar Birgaon. In another incident, a pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a speeding car in the Purani Basti area of Raipur.
 
The victim, identified as 43-year-old Manoj Pansari, was a resident of Sheetla Mandir Gali, Budhapara. The accident occurred while Pansari was walking when a speeding car hit him, killing him instantly. The driver fled the scene, leaving the victim’s body on the road. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the location, registered a case, and sent the body for postmortem. In the third accident a speeding truck collided with a motorcycle in Silyari, near Malod, in the capital. The impact of the collision was fatal, instantly killing the husband and wife who were riding the motorcycle. According to reports, the couple was returning home from a wedding ceremony when the speeding truck struck their bike. Another tragic incident unfolded in the Narayanpur district when a tractor carrying villagers overturned near Madonar village.
 
The accident, which occurred between 8 and 10 pm, claimed four lives, including children and women. The tractor was transporting 16 villagers, along with Public Distribution System (PDS) rice, back to their homes in Toyameta, Kawanar, and Musnar villages after collecting the rations from Orchha village. The vehicle overturned near a drain, killing three people on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Chhote Dongar Police Station In-charge confirmed the incident and stated that rescue operations were carried out immediately. The injured were rushed to the hospital and further investigations are under way.
