THE Plate Mill Department of Bhilai Steel Plant marked International Women’s Day with a grand event, bringing together employees to celebrate women’s contributions across the steel plant. The event featured two significant programs: ‘Nayee Chetna’ and ‘Suraksha Mitra’. Nayee Chetna, organised by HR-MZ-3, focused on women’s rights, empowerment, and leadership, while Suraksha Mitra, led by Hemant Kumar Bahurupi, the Departmental Safety Officer, concentrated on workplace safety for women. Tanmayi Marepalli, Assistant Manager (HR-MZ-3), highlighted the POSH Act, 2013, and the importance of workplace safety.

The event featured a quiz on women's achievements and performances, including Premlatha's empowering poem on women’s roles, Amrutha’s speech on empowerment, and Geeta’s devotional song on Krishna. Sarita presented a poem on safety, while Sharda, Gayathri, and Pushpa performed songs on women’s liberation and equality. The event was graced by Karthikeya Behera, CGM of Plate Mill, along with senior leaders, including GM Electrical Padmanabhan, GM Mechanical Sudhakar, and GM Operations Debabrata Roy. In his speech, Behera traced the origins of International Women’s Day, which originated in Russia due to the struggles faced by women during World War I.
