THE Plate Mill Department of
Bhilai Steel Plant marked
International Women’s Day with
a grand event, bringing together employees to celebrate
women’s contributions across
the steel plant. The event featured
two significant programs: ‘Nayee
Chetna’ and ‘Suraksha Mitra’.
Nayee Chetna, organised by
HR-MZ-3, focused on women’s
rights, empowerment, and leadership, while Suraksha Mitra, led
by Hemant Kumar Bahurupi, the
Departmental Safety Officer,
concentrated on workplace safety for women.
Tanmayi Marepalli, Assistant
Manager (HR-MZ-3), highlighted the POSH Act, 2013, and the
importance of workplace safety.
The event featured a quiz on
women's achievements and performances, including
Premlatha's empowering poem
on women’s roles, Amrutha’s
speech on empowerment, and
Geeta’s devotional song on
Krishna. Sarita presented a poem
on safety, while Sharda, Gayathri,
and Pushpa performed songs on
women’s liberation and equality. The event was graced by
Karthikeya Behera, CGM of Plate
Mill, along with senior leaders,
including GM Electrical
Padmanabhan, GM Mechanical
Sudhakar, and GM Operations
Debabrata Roy.
In his speech, Behera
traced the origins of International
Women’s Day, which originated
in Russia due to the struggles
faced by women during
World War I.
