45-yr-old Krishna covers 96,205 km with mother on an old scooter
With quiet conviction and deep devotion, D Krishna Kumar of Mysuru has arrived in Raipur on a journey that speaks volumes about love, gratitude, and India’s enduring family values.
The 45-year-old former corporate executive has been travelling across India since January 16, 2018—on a simple old scooter, gifted to him by his father on his 21st birthday. But what makes this journey special is the person seated behind him on every kilometre of the ride—his 75-year-old mother, Chudarathnamma.
Their ‘Bharat Bhraman’, now touching 96,205 km, has taken them through almost all Indian states and neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Burma and Myanmar. Their only goal: to visit prominent temples and spiritual places that his mother once wished to see.
“In our childhood, our mother never asked for anything.
Her world was the kitchen and our home,” Krishna Kumar said. “One day she expressed a desire to visit famous temples. I made it my mission.”
He quit his job and set off on the scooter with no sponsorships, no media attention—just a son fulfilling his mother’s long-pending wish.
In Raipur, the duo was warmly received. Local devotees offered respect, moved by the simplicity and sincerity of their story. “We are travelling happily. No health problems at all,” said Chudarathnamma, her face calm and content.
Their journey is not just a tour of shrines. It is a message—a son showing how parents should be honoured while they are alive. After Chhattisgarh, they will continue toward Andhra Pradesh before returning to Mysuru. Krishna Kumar’s story has touched hearts across the country. It reminds us that devotion doesn’t need a grand stage—it just needs a pure heart and a promise kept.
