The doctors restored the vision of Kanhaiya’s right eye after successful surgery of cataract performed free of cost under National Child Health Program. Successful surgery was done with phaco method and lens was implanted in the ophthalmology department of the district hospital.

District Manager, National Child Health Program, Subhash Shukla said that the cataract surgery and lens implantation of the right eye of Kanhaiya, son of Kundam resident Ashok Yadav, was done by the ophthalmologist of the district hospital Dr Tarun Aharwal and Dr Shalabh Amravanshi with the help of optometrist Mahesh Sahu and optometrist Shiv Prasad Bathre. It may be mentioned that Phacoemulsification, often shortened to "phaco," is a common cataract surgery technique that uses ultrasonic energy to break up and remove the clouded lens of the eye. This method allows for a small incision and the insertion of an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) to restore vision.
