Jatin Kale-Parth Majumdar and the pair of Chaitanya Jain-Vedit Agrawal recorded victories over their respective opponents in the ongoing Central Provinces Club’s Late Advocate MB Naidu Snicket Tournament.
In the first match of the evening, Kale-Majumdar duo defeated Saurabh Rai-Abhishek Thakur 122-47. Scoring first, Kale-Majumdar fumbled to post only 17 points. However, Rai-Thakur could not take the advantage and also scored an identical 17 points.
Regrouping themselves, Kale-Majumdar scored a respectable 105 in their third frame which included 70 points. These additional points were given since Rai-Thakur could not pot all of their red balls in the allotted 13 chance per player and since seven red balls remained to be potted by Rai-Thakur, they had to concede the 70 points (10 points per red ball).
Rai-Thakur could post only 30 in the fourth frame.
In another match, Chaitanya Jain-Vedit Agrawal defeated Mihir Shah-Jaidev Menon, 131-67. Potting first, Jain-Agrawal posted 24 against which Shah-Menon could muster just seven points.
Bouncing back in the third frame, Chaitanya Jain-Vedit Agrawal scored 107 and restricted Shah-Menon at 60 to win the match.
The second round of the competition will feature 12 teams. A total of 18 matches would be played in the second round. The list of qualified payers will be declared today.
